Perpetual Awkwardness: steve madden

Having the qualifications of a nerd (Computer Science Major and LOTR lover), I believe I have a right and obligation to cover nerd fashion. I've been wanting to do so for a while, but wanted first to perfect it. Here are my tips for bringing out your inner nerd:

1). The Sweater and Button-down Combo

The sweater button-down combo is the go-to outfit for me. It's quick and a lot of combinations of colors and patterns are permissible. I think it looks very refined with a hint of nerd. Not only that, but it looks good with a bold necklace.

2). Rock Some Oxfords

Oxfords are one of my favorite type of shoes and they're so comfortable. It is the perfect addition to a nerdy ensemble.

3). Forget Contacts

If you wear contacts, forget them for a day and dawn your specs.

Work Wear

So, recently I got a new job as a Computer Lab Technician, consequently I've been trying to dress more professionally for work. There seems to be a bedazzle/bejewel look going around. I've seen it on sweaters and this button-down in particular, which I love. Here is my outfit of the work day:

Tuxedo Pants: American Eagle

Black Flats: Steve Madden from DSW

A Shoe Substitution

Something that is very prominent this fall and that I happen to love are loafers. They're very popular and because of it they come in different patterns, colors and textures to help fit anyone's personal style. Loafers are an excellent substitution for ballet flats that make an outfit even more chic. It's a great way to spice up your wardrobe. Here are my favorite loafers of the season:

1. The Refined Loafer

Vince Camuto quilted studded loafers. These
are incredibly chic and are a perfect sub for a
ballet flat. These could be easily paired with
skinny jeans and a cute blouse for a polished
look.

2. A Pop of Color

These royal blue loafers from Mod Cloth are perfect for adding
a color pop to an outfit. It's also great for color blocking, especially
this season with colored denim being so popular.

3. The Perfect Pattern

Steve Madden leopard print loafers are a great way to spice up an
a wardrobe and they're a good change from a normal patterned
ballet flat.
