My little sister willingly volunteered to take some pictures of my own outfits for me. She did a wonderful job. So, here's the first!

Although it can be quite crowded shopping after Christmas, for those of us willing to brave the throngs of crazy shoppers and return lines out the door, it can be worth it. My only tips are shop clearance! A lot of the times places put their winter apparel and accessories on clearance even though we still have a few months of bitter Winter left to endure. Also, never pay full price for anything around this time. With the deals, coupons and clearance waiting to buy the newest spring outfit at full price is best.
Having said all that, here is what I scored in my post-Christmas shopping extravaganza:
Periwinkle Lauren Conrad Wedges (Kohl's):
:

Original Price: $69.99
I Paid: $7.50
Faux Leather Bow Gloves (Target):
Original Price: $19.99
I Paid: $14.99
Burgundy Felt Hat (American Eagle):
Original Price: $24.99
I Paid: $6.99 (technically nothing I had a gift card)
All in all it was a good Christmas.

After perusing the mall and my work (Kohl's), I've noticed an overwhelming amount of Tuxedo type blazers and pants. This style is really clean and perfect for Holiday/Party-going season.
Pants:
With these it can be tricky to create a full ensemble. For tuxedo pants you really need to match its tailored design and clean cuts, by pairing it with something equally sharp. Maybe a chiffon blouse or a structured peplum like these:

My favorite decade of fashion is definitely the 1940's. I love the silhouette. I also believe that this dedicate in particular is very indicative of strong women. WWII definitely shaped the way women dressed. There were shortages on a lot of textiles and rubber, which forced women to be creative and also raised the hemline for most skirts and dresses.
Between the hats and gloves, the A-line skirts and the shoulder pads, you can't help but love it. Not to mention the militaristic inspiration of it all.
Looking for an Update?
Love this look, but looking to update it? I found pieces mostly from Modcloth that are very 1940s with a little twist giving you a modern look.
I love this dress from
Mod Cloth because it is so reminiscent of this time period with the severe shoulders.
This coat also from
Mod Cloth I love because it's long and has the militaristic inspiration to it like a lot from that era.
I am irrevocably in love with this dress (also from
Mod Cloth, surprise!). The white satin is so 1940's and it has a simply beautiful silhouette, which is incredibly figure-flattering.

So, although, I'm a little late it seems for Halloween, it's never too early to start planning ideas for next year. I have an outfit that I'd like to share that cost no money and is very easy. With Halloween costumes costing upwards of 40 dollars, it's nice to have less expensive options.
Last year my friends and I were all Disney Princesses (with the exception of the banana and the cat lady!). Most of these costumes we found in our closets and mine didn't cost me anything.
I was Cinderella, my favorite Disney Princess. I used ribbon for my hair and necklace. I borrowed my gloves and shoes from a friend. I wore my own skirt and blue shirt for a modern Cinderella. These are good group costumes as well as individual ones.

I know what you're thinking when it comes to sequins. These aren't sequin tops, but bottoms. More specifically, skirts. They're in for this fall season, which is great. You can wear them from work to play without looking like you're going to a teen dance club. The trick to it is tone it down, don't play it up. Hopefully, these pictures can portray what I mean a little better.
The Classic Button Down:
Here, she chose a sequin maxi skirt, which I think is incredibly beautiful and stylish. To tone it down, she used a button down. A lot of the times you can use any different color button down you want and you can, also, change up the material. Chiffon button downs look phenomenal with sequin skirts whether you decided to tuck them in or not.
The Soft Sweater:
Another option to really make this casual and everyday wearable is a sweater. Especially, an over-sized one. When you let it drape over the sequin skirt it really gives you a subdued look with a pop. Generally, when choosing colors to match your sequins neutrals are always a great bet.
Lots of Layers:
Layering, by tucking in your shirt and wearing a blazer over top gives this a clean look without being over done. Any type of blazer would work: a boyfriend, or a cropped. Whatever you have in your closet really. That's why these sequin skirts are such a great piece to have. They're really a staple in your wardrobe that you can easily build off of.

Something that is very prominent this fall and that I happen to love are loafers. They're very popular and because of it they come in different patterns, colors and textures to help fit anyone's personal style. Loafers are an excellent substitution for ballet flats that make an outfit even more chic. It's a great way to spice up your wardrobe. Here are my favorite loafers of the season:

A new trend this spring/summer is the pastel. And as we approach fall, I've noticed that this trend will continue into the new season. So, to stay in style, below are ways to make sure you're wearing your pastels the best way possible:
 |
This pastel blazer with a pair of skinny jeans
and flats is a perfect every day look. |
 |
Mixing pastels together is a great way to make
an interesting outfit. Here, the outfit is paired with
a pair of bright pumps that give the outfit a little pop. |
 |
Basic pastel tops, like this pink one
are perfect for wearing with skirts or jeans. |

A pastel bag is a perfect accent for most outfits and a good
piece for every wardrobe. |

This peplum top is from Abercrombie & Fitch and is very versatile.
3. The Peplum Skirt:
This floral peplum skirt from Zara is a little more prominent and can looks great with a fitted top.

A very big piece this summer is the tie front shirt. There are so many out there to choose from. I love this style, so I went with a teal lace-back tie-front shirt from Kohl's and paired it with linen shorts and a bandeau to go under it.

Summer is upon us! One of my favorite styles and obsessions is nautical themed clothing. These shorts are nautical style with four buttons on either side and high-waisted. They cost me 15 bucks at Love Culture. I think they're a great piece to have in a wardrobe. It's definitely a piece that will stand out in a crowd. Here, I've paired it with a 5 dollar shirt I bought from H&M (score!) and a pair of oxfords from Shi by Journeys. A good pairing with these shorts could also be a striped shirt with a pocket or anything simple really. It's a very low maintenance outfit, which is why it's perfect for Summer.
