With spring nearly here (even though in Michigan it's impossible to tell), I figured I'd throw together my guide on how to master pastels like a boss.
Pastels and Neutrals:
If you're afraid of pastels, never fear! Obviously, everything goes well with neutrals including pastels. My only suggestion is to shy away from bright white. I'd suggest an off white instead.
Pastels and Brights:
If you're looking to be a little more daring, then here is my suggestion. Create an outfit with mostly pastels and neutrals. Then choose one thing (bag, shoes) to be your color pop to tie the outfit together.
Side note: When accessorizing go for gold jewelry as opposed to silver.
Pastels and Pastels:
Yo, dawg! I heard you like pastels. So, I put some pastels on your pastels! Normal rules for color coordination don't apply to pastels. Normally, I wouldn't pair a blue with a purple, but you can do that with pastels.
As for me, this is what I chose (and yes it is blizzarding out):
Cardigan: Forever21 (similar

Bird Scarf: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Shoes: Elle for Kohl's

I have been researching and I have found the latest trends for Spring 2013 and I'm very excited. So, here's a heads up of what to expect.
1). Bold Stripes
Stripes are huge this year and not just regular run-of-the-mill stripes, but very bright bold stripes. For example:
Oscar de la Renta
2). 60s Silhouette
Whether it be mod or a classic Betty Draper look, 60s is in.
Kate Spade
Louis Vuitton
3). White-Out
Nixing the color and donning an entire bright white outfit or dress has been seen all over the runway for fashion week.

Although it can be quite crowded shopping after Christmas, for those of us willing to brave the throngs of crazy shoppers and return lines out the door, it can be worth it. My only tips are shop clearance! A lot of the times places put their winter apparel and accessories on clearance even though we still have a few months of bitter Winter left to endure. Also, never pay full price for anything around this time. With the deals, coupons and clearance waiting to buy the newest spring outfit at full price is best.
Having said all that, here is what I scored in my post-Christmas shopping extravaganza:
Periwinkle Lauren Conrad Wedges (Kohl's):
:

Original Price: $69.99
I Paid: $7.50
Faux Leather Bow Gloves (Target):
Original Price: $19.99
I Paid: $14.99
Burgundy Felt Hat (American Eagle):
Original Price: $24.99
I Paid: $6.99 (technically nothing I had a gift card)
All in all it was a good Christmas.

After perusing the mall and my work (Kohl's), I've noticed an overwhelming amount of Tuxedo type blazers and pants. This style is really clean and perfect for Holiday/Party-going season.
Pants:
With these it can be tricky to create a full ensemble. For tuxedo pants you really need to match its tailored design and clean cuts, by pairing it with something equally sharp. Maybe a chiffon blouse or a structured peplum like these:

I know what you're thinking when it comes to sequins. These aren't sequin tops, but bottoms. More specifically, skirts. They're in for this fall season, which is great. You can wear them from work to play without looking like you're going to a teen dance club. The trick to it is tone it down, don't play it up. Hopefully, these pictures can portray what I mean a little better.
The Classic Button Down:
Here, she chose a sequin maxi skirt, which I think is incredibly beautiful and stylish. To tone it down, she used a button down. A lot of the times you can use any different color button down you want and you can, also, change up the material. Chiffon button downs look phenomenal with sequin skirts whether you decided to tuck them in or not.
The Soft Sweater:
Another option to really make this casual and everyday wearable is a sweater. Especially, an over-sized one. When you let it drape over the sequin skirt it really gives you a subdued look with a pop. Generally, when choosing colors to match your sequins neutrals are always a great bet.
Lots of Layers:
Layering, by tucking in your shirt and wearing a blazer over top gives this a clean look without being over done. Any type of blazer would work: a boyfriend, or a cropped. Whatever you have in your closet really. That's why these sequin skirts are such a great piece to have. They're really a staple in your wardrobe that you can easily build off of.

Something that is very prominent this fall and that I happen to love are loafers. They're very popular and because of it they come in different patterns, colors and textures to help fit anyone's personal style. Loafers are an excellent substitution for ballet flats that make an outfit even more chic. It's a great way to spice up your wardrobe. Here are my favorite loafers of the season:
1. The Refined Loafer

Blake Lively always looks amazing in everything she wears. Her style tends to be trendier and, clearly it works for her.
2. Chloe Moretz:
Although, she's young, Chloe Moretz, has become a staple among the fashion community. She rocks a lot of old fashion style with a modern twist, that give her a very interesting look.
3. Lauren Conrad:
Lauren Conrad has written two books on style and designs two different clothing lines. She dresses to match her success. Her girly style fits her girl next store look.
