Every woman knows that a Little Black Dress is essential to a wardrobe, but often times its opposite and equally versatile counterpart is forgotten. The Little White Dress is a perfect Summer staple and when paired with the right pieces can be worn for nearly every Summer occasion (sans weddings). Thus far, I've worn my LWD to work, class, a concert and my sister's recital, making this piece perfect for the hustle and bustle of Summer.

A simple white dress can be easily paired with a cardigan and flats for work or heels/wedges for a night out. It can have a smooth transition from day to night, just like the little black dress. Not only that, but it's easy to accessorize. It's also a very appropriate color for Summer and doesn't attract the heat quite like a black dress would. This is my go to piece for Summer and has been my savior when going about my day-to-day.
This is also my 50th post! Cheers!

Stripes are a really big trend this Summer and a personal favorite of mine, although my wardrobe does not reflect that. I tried for something a little casual, but I dressed it up with my favorite periwinkle wedges. So, here is my take on this Summer fad. Enjoy:

Although it can be quite crowded shopping after Christmas, for those of us willing to brave the throngs of crazy shoppers and return lines out the door, it can be worth it. My only tips are shop clearance! A lot of the times places put their winter apparel and accessories on clearance even though we still have a few months of bitter Winter left to endure. Also, never pay full price for anything around this time. With the deals, coupons and clearance waiting to buy the newest spring outfit at full price is best.
Having said all that, here is what I scored in my post-Christmas shopping extravaganza:
Periwinkle Lauren Conrad Wedges (Kohl's):
:

Original Price: $69.99
I Paid: $7.50
Faux Leather Bow Gloves (Target):
Original Price: $19.99
I Paid: $14.99
Burgundy Felt Hat (American Eagle):
Original Price: $24.99
I Paid: $6.99 (technically nothing I had a gift card)
All in all it was a good Christmas.

I've decided to start a series in this blog called
Fashion Myth Busters. I will be taking several fashion myths and busting or confirming them. This is part one. Get excited!
Myth #1:
You only need one pair of black heels.
As nice as it would be to only have to buy one pair of black heels until they're worn out, it is unfortunately untrue. Because of the plethora of styles, materials and heights that heels come in, not to mention the multitude of events in your life you'll need them for, it is imperative to have more than one style of black heel. I've narrowed it down to 3 types of black heels that should suit different events, including day-to-day activities.
1. The Work Pair
This is the more practical pair of heels that most successful women are in need of. Especially, those that are on their feet constantly. For these, I suggest a point toe, that way it will look good with dress pants and skirts, etc. I also suggest a lower heel. As cute as 4 inch heels are they aren't incredibly practical and can kill your feet.
My Top Choice:
2. The Trendy Pair
The next kind I like to define as the trendy pair, which is something you can go out in. It shouldn't be too fancy. They should be simple and define your sense of style.
My Top Choice:
3. The Fancy Dinner Pair
This pair of heels should be a mix of trendy and classic. They're heels that you can wear to a party or a nice restaurant. They're trendy, but reserved and should be formal. For these I'd try to stay away from a platform heel as well as sequins.

There are a lot of little tricks to learn when taking an outfit from day to night. The biggest one of these little tricks is accessorizing. Accessorizing is an integral part of an outfit especially when you're dressing appropriately for the time of day. You have to be conscious of your jewelry, hair, purse and your shoe choice in order to make an outfit work for whatever occasion. Here is a visual:
Here is a very basic dress. If you're dressing for day to night you always want to consider your shoes.
For Day:
Try a pair of basic flats, depending on the dress and how adventurous you're feeling on that day. It makes it work appropriate, as well as school appropriate without looking too overdone.
For Night:
Try a nice pair of wedges or cute heels to pair with the dress. It will make your dress come alive at night.
2. Jewelry
Another thing to be cognizant of when dressing from day to night is jewelry.
For Day:
Daintier jewelry is better to be worn for the day to make your outfit look a little more subdued, like this rhinestone bow necklace.
For Night:
This peter pan collar necklace is perfect big statement jewelry for night time.
3. Purse/satchel
What you carry is imperative to your look for day to night.
For Day:
For day a satchel or crossbody bag like this one works best.
For Night:
For night try a refined satchel. Something a little less busy and simple. Clutches also work perfectly for night.
4. Other Accessories
For Day:
Add a belt!
For Night:
Add tights! Also great for Fall coming up and Winter.
