I apologize for going on hiatus. But! I finally made it back to the blogging world, much to my own surprise.

Moving right along.

I realized very quickly while getting ready for a fancy brunch this morning, that I resembled a politician, what with my tight no-nonsense bun and form fitting architectural dress. Upon this realization I asked my mom if I looked like I worked at the White House. Her laugh in response confirmed my realization that I did indeed look like I belonged in an episode of Scandal, which I consider a compliment.

As Fashion Week keeps rolling on, debuting high-end fashion’s latest styles, you’ll start to see more affordable chain brands are starting to transition into fall wear and putting them on the racks. Although the summer heat is still going strong, it’s always best to hit the mall when the newest looks are out on display! (You’ll wear that sweater in two weeks; don’t worry about whether you’ll be wearing it tomorrow!) So, how can you incorporate some of the new fall trends into your style?

Military

Military trend always comes back full speed during the fall! The army greens, camo, and gold embellishments adorn just about everything you see in the stores. Scared to test out such a look? Incorporate military-inspired pieces slowly – stick a pin like this one, from Forever 21, onto a jacket to give it a bit of edge!

This spring has a very cool color palette, which consists of a lot of pastels, among other things. But I've chosen one of the most prominent colors (or so it seems). I was a little hungry when I wrote this (note the picture of food).

Yo, dawg! I heard you like pastels. So, I put some pastels on your pastels! Normal rules for color coordination don't apply to pastels. Normally, I wouldn't pair a blue with a purple, but you can do that with pastels.

After perusing the mall and my work (Kohl's), I've noticed an overwhelming amount of Tuxedo type blazers and pants. This style is really clean and perfect for Holiday/Party-going season.

I recently watched the trailer for the new Anna Karenina movie and was inspired by the fashion. I really love this era. I thought I'd share my take and modern fashion equivalents, for Anna Karenina's bold fashion statements.

Sweater dresses are essential to every wardrobe because they seem to make a comeback every single fall and winter season. So, getting a nice sweater dress that will last years and stay in style is very important. Also, finding a versatile one is important. These are my favorite from the season:

This LC Lauren Conrad dress from Kohl's is very simple and is perfectly versatile for all of the running around that Christmas time requires.

This heart print sweater dress from Delias is cute and functional. It's perfect for work and play.

This sweater dress from Forever21 may be simple, but the minor details make up for it's simplicity, making it sexy as well.

A classic favorite of mine that happens to be in this season is the Moto Jacket. Because they are so popular there are so many styles and colors to choose from, than just a black moto jacket. I have perused stores and online shopped until I found my favorites. And here they are:

This Moto Jacket from Delias is a refreshing twist on a classic piece. It has lace sleeves to make it stand out.

This Moto Jacket by Candie's from Kohl's is done in a light pink tweed, which is perfect for someone with a little more girly style.

This Moto Jacket from Forever 21 is one of my favorites. The stud detailing on the lapel makes it different and very versatile.

There are a lot of little tricks to learn when taking an outfit from day to night. The biggest one of these little tricks is accessorizing. Accessorizing is an integral part of an outfit especially when you're dressing appropriately for the time of day. You have to be conscious of your jewelry, hair, purse and your shoe choice in order to make an outfit work for whatever occasion. Here is a visual:

1. The Printed Short

Printed shorts are very popular this season. With all the different patterns they can fit anyone's style. You can get a regular denim pair with a floral pattern or a high-waisted chiffon pair with polka dots. It all depends on what fits your personal style. 2. The Colored Short

These shorts have become especially popular this season. They're great for color blocking and you can also pair them with neutrals, which makes them especially versatile. They come in every color from subdued, to neon, to pastel. So, whatever your favorite color pallet is, you can find a pair for you.
